Catorce horas de negociaciones y ningún resultado apreciable. Ese es el balance que ha ofrecido el portavoz de la cumbre del G-20, que empieza hoy en Seúl , de las reuniones preliminares para atajar la espiral de devaluaciones competitivas.
"No nos hemos puesto de acuerdo ni en la hora en que retomaremos la discusión", ha indicado Kim Yoon-kyung en el centro de prensa de la cumbre.
El portavoz del G-20 ha agregado que hay progresos notables en cómo reflejará el comunicado final la reforma financiera y el aumento de cuota de poder de los países emergentes en el Fondo Monetario Internacional, dos asuntos ya resueltos en las últimas semanas. Un avance que contrasta con el bloqueo sobre cómo enfriar la guerra de divisas. "De momento, no hay acuerdo sobre los tipos de cambio y los desequilibrios externos", ha sintetizado. Yoon-kyung ha adelantado que las conversaciones se retomarán en algún momento tras la cena inaugural de la cumbre, prevista para las siete de la tarde (11.00 hora española). El bloqueo en este asunto se deja sentir en las últimas declaraciones de los líderes mundiales. La canciller alemana, Angela Merkel, ha insistido en su rechazo a la idea estadounidense de fijar topes al saldo exterior (EE UU planteó limitarlo al 4% del PIB). El máximo logro, hasta ahora, se limita a los compromisos de "cooperación" de cara a afrontar una reunión entre Obama y el presidente chino, Hu Jintao.
